Although discussing the end of life, including setting up a Trust, can be uncomfortable, Marion and Amanda, along with their team, made the process feel painless and understandable. From the beginning to the end, they answered all our questions with knowledge and patience. They are very organized and professional, while being friendly and approachable. I highly recommend this firm for all your needs regarding putting a trust together with confidence, knowing they put the work into ensuring your wishes will be carried out just as you desire and covering different scenarios which could occur upon you or your spouse’s passing. I would definitely recommend them and have suggested this firm to several friends looking to set up a trust.

Adam is the consummate professional. I’m impressed by the fact that this is his specialty area (I set up my trust/estate planning) and he has such deep knowledge in the space. It was important to me to find an attorney who was well versed in trust and estate planning and I found that! In addition, the staff supporting Adam are so friendly and professional. I have a great experience every time I’m here. I highly recommend giving this law firm a call if you are looking for trust and estate planning!

Everyone we spoke to or had any interaction with was polite, courteous, friendly and most importantly professional. The documents they prepared for us were completed on time without error and bound in an easy to understand binder with table of contents. They explained each page of the binder ensuring we understood and were comfortable with its contents. I highly recommend Stern & Mauck to anyone interested in estate planning.

I entered into this relationship after the death of my younger sister. The death was totally unexpected, and thus out of the blue. Being the only survivor of our nuclear family I knew that I would have to step up to take care of her estate, whatever that meant. Before embarking on this journey, I consulted a local financial advisor / attorney in the state of Washington for any advice he could provide. That advice was simple, I needed to contact an in-state Kansas attorney that had probate experience.
I was able to pre-screen Kansas City area attorneys, and I found Marion Stern among a few other. Upon arriving in Overland Park, Kansas, I had an appointment to interview the law firm to see if a good fit could achieve. Being new to the game I had a lot of questions and worries. During the interview Ms. Stern up front answered a lot of my questions before I could even ask them when she described what the firm could do. And then, she asked me what I wanted out of the relationship. I told, and her quick response was something like "we can do that, that's what we do". That resulted in my realization that I was at the right place and talking to the right firm.
My sister passed away without a will, so that did make things not as cut and dried.
Three days after this interview I had another appointment with Ms. Stern and Tammy Pyatt, legal aide, to sign relationship documents and start the process, which prior to this meeting had already started. I was a bit startled as to how much had already been accomplished, and it confirmed my assessment that I had made a very good choice.
In the ensuing two years a lot of things had to happen, and as the Estate Administrator I had lot of things that I was involved with. The law firm stepped up and took care of everything except when it required my signature, or I had to personally get involved. The law firm stepped up, organized and led everything, from probate filings, to disposing of property, coordinating with a recipient of a charitable donation from the estate, taking care of federal and state tax filings, paying off and closing out billings, etc.
The law firm was a very diligent and knowledgeable agent for the estate and for myself. Never once was I ever concerned that this was not the case.
Most importantly, the firm was very kind and considerate in how they interacted with me at a very stressful and sorrowful time. I recommend that anyone in their local area consider them, especially for probate related activities. Their knowledge, experience, contacts, along with their personal approach are highly valued.
